Move from Win7 pro to Win10 pro 2.6.4 to 2.7.2 to Ke9ns v2.8

Have a good working Win 7 pro Flex 3000 running 2.6.4, vendor 1c2d, Product2,SDK 4.1.1.15782 with firmware app 2.1.3.4. no issues.
I am dual booting with Win7 pro/ Win 10 pro.
If I wish to upgrade the Flex 3000 and use 2.7.2 then to 2.80 I can boot into win 10 and load 2.7.2 (verified that firewire is communicating with flex radio check plus used the legacy firewire driver in Win 10) it starts to load and says it needs to
update the Firmware..continue or cancel. I cancelled, since I did not want to cause my Win7 -2.6.4 not to be functional e.g. fallback if Win 10 gives me issues. I think if I allow for the firmware update under 2.7.2/ win 10, then 2.6.4 will not function under win 7( firmware not compatiblewith 2.7.2 update of firmware)?
Thus I am confused as to the O.S. releases(2.6.4/2.7.2/2.8.0 firmware interaction. I read on the flex 3000 knowledge search, that firmware is not backwards compatible not 100% sure since document was somewhat confusing?
I was wishing to move everything on my desktop computer to Win 10 since Win7 is no longer supported by MS.
Any pointers appreciated. In the meantime I am stuck dual booting, each o.s. is on its own SSD.
Thanks Bob Wb3deh
