Problem with Power SDR 2.8.0 and Flex 1500

Dear Forum -- I haven't used my FLEX-1500 in probably 8 months. When starting PowerSDR ver 2.8.0.169 this evening, I noticed that the frequency on the display kept changing by itself by a few kilohertz, even before activating PowerSDR software ON button. Changing mode to ON activates the receiver however the frequency keeps changing. Band change doesn't work -- switching to 20m momentarily causes RX to change and then immediately goes back to 40m.

Its Behaving almost like there is another program trying to activate rig control. Have nothing else running. Have rebooted computer and same problem with no other applications running (except AVAST).

Additionally, I'm unable to quit the program -- selecting the X to close causes program to freeze. Only way to quit is with Task Manager. Finally, when opening the SETUP menu causes program to freeze as well.

Upgraded to 2.8.0.213 tonight but have same problems. There's been many WIN10 updates as well as a couple of AVAST updates.

Could this be AVAST -- it didn't used to be a problem. Where to start? Uninstall AVAST?

Update - I've uninstalled Avast with no change in flex behavior. I've also run the flex using an old version of 2.7 and the radio does not exhibit the 'frequency hopping' behavior with very 2.7 sw.

Another note: software I've added to my computer since I last successfully ran my flex-1500 with earlier version of Powerade 2.8 includes:. N1MM+, MMTY, and updated WSJTX, AntScope and maybe SimSmith. I think that's it.

Any ideas? Anyone? Buhler?

You can always go into setup->Cat Control and disable all the CAT ports
also setup->General->User Interface and make sure the DJCosole and PowerMate are disabled.

Last choice would be to go into the folder: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\FlexRadio Systems\PowerSDR v2.8.0\
and remove all the database files with your radios serial# in the file name to start fresh.

Darrin: Thanks so much for your quick reply. I was unable to disable the CAT port -- software kept freezing. The other two check boxes were not activated. Deleting all the files you described did the trick. Now in the process of setting up the system -- but have to admit, 2nd time is easier.

I have to tell you this is a tremendous piece of software, Darrin. So feature rich and rock solid. A pleasure to operate and experiment with. Thanks so much for maintaining and improving this.
